The 2007 NZU Blues Awards Ceremony was held in the Great Hall of the Dominion Museum, Massey University Wellington on Friday 29 June 2007, starting at 6pm.
This year’s Ceremony featured two important keynote speakers:
Tom Gault became, in 2006, the first New Zealander to Captain the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrew’s. A NZU Blue, former winner of the NZU Golf Championship, USNZ President, member of the NZU Blues Panel and Victoria graduate, Tom is a Justice of the Supreme Court of New Zealand and a member of the Privy Council. He will speak about his University golf experience and his year in office at the R&A.
Jamie Fitzgerald is a Waikato graduate, a former international rower and past recipient of a NZU Distinguished Performance Award for rowing the Atlantic in 2003. He will talk about his recent expedition to the South Pole in January where he and companion Kevin Biggar became the first to undertake the trek unsupported.
This year, University Sport New Zealand has awarded a total of 66 Awards from 27 different sports, the most Blues in a single year since 1950. Come and support the current and future stars and leaders of sport in New Zealand.
