Awards Ceremony 2008

The 2008 NZU Blues Awards Ceremony will be held on Friday, June 27th (6pm) at the ASB Lounge, North Harbour Stadium, Auckland. This Ceremony will recognise high performance athletes for their achievements in the 2007 academic year.

108 nominations were received and 50 Blues have been awarded, as well as one Distinguished Performance Award and one New Zealand University Coaching Award.

This year’s Ceremony will feature Danyon Loader as a keynote speaker. Danyon Loader is one of New Zealand’s most successful Olympians. Four years on from winning an Olympic silver medal in the Butterfly at the age of 17 years, he achieved the pinnacle in International swimming becoming a double gold Olympian in the 200 and 400 freestyle. Being launched on to the international stage at such a young age Danyon had to quickly identify skills and strategies to ensure that he was able to continue to focus on achieving his key goals.

In addition, fellow swimmer Melissa Ingram, three-time Blues recipient, 2008 Beijing Olympics squad member and 2007 World University Games (Bangkok) Silver medallist will give a brief presentation about her experiences in Bangkok.

Tickets to the Awards Ceremony are $95 per guest, with RSVPs and/or ticket order form due Friday 13 June 2008.
