USNZ has appointed the following team officials, following recommendations from Basketball NZ, to the Emerging Tall Blacks team which will compete at the Games in Bangkok:
Basketball NZ will hold regional trials for national league players wishing to be considered for NZ Tall Blacks and World University Games teams in 2007. The trials, overseen by new Tall Black coach Nenad Vucinic, have been scheduled not to clash with Dominion Finance NBL games. The dates and venues are:
Monday, April 9 - Auckland
Sunday, April 15 - Palmerston North
Saturday, May 12 - Nelson

Update April 2007 - At the FISU Team Draw meeting for Bangkok, the men’s team were accepted but the women’s team were not - only the men will compete at the Games.Â
Following discussion with Basketball NZ, USNZ has entered Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams into the 2007 World University Games. FISU will determine the teams that will compete in the tournaments in conjunction with FIBA and announce its decision in Bangkok on Saturday 7 April.Â
