Eligibility Criteria 2007
a) General Criteria
To be eligible to compete at the 2007 World University Games, competitors must meet the eligibility requirements laid down by FISU, the International University Sports Federation.
USNZ interpretes these regulations for the New Zealand delegation accordingly:
- You must be a New Zealand citizen and hold a current, full, NZ passport;
- For all sports except Basketball, you must be at least 17 and less than 28 years of age as at 1 January 2007 (i.e. be born between 2 January 1979 and 1 January 1990);
- For Basketball, you must be at least 17 and less than 25 years of age as at 31 December 2007 (i.e. be born between 31 December 1983 and 1 January 1989);
- If studying in NZ, you must be attending a NZ University as recognised by the Ministry of Education;
- If studying overseas you must be studying at a University or similar institution recognised as holding University status by the appropriate academic authority of that country;
- You must be studying ‘towards a full time course’; OR
- You must have finished your course (successfully) and graduated less than 12 months before the start of the Games, i.e. finished your course and graduated after 8 August 2006.
