Eligibility Criteria 2009
a) General Criteria
To be eligible to compete at the 2009 World University Winter Games, competitors must meet the eligibility requirements laid down by FISU, the International University Sports Federation. USNZ interpretes these regulations for the New Zealand delegation accordingly:
- You must be a New Zealand citizen and hold a current, full NZ passport;
- You must be at least 17 and less than 28 years of age as at 1st January 2009;
- If studying in NZ, you must be attending a NZ University as recognised by the Ministry of Education. The University does not need to be a member of USNZ but an additional administration fee will be levied on competitors from non-USNZ members;
- If studying overseas you must be studying at a University or similar institution recognised as holding University status by the appropriate academic authority of that country. NZ Competitors studying at overseas Universities will be subject to an administration fee by USNZ.
- You must be studying ‘towards a full time course’; OR
- You must have finished your course (successfully) and graduated less than 12 months before the start of the Games, i.e. finished your course and graduated after 12th Janurary 2008.
