CTC 2007

The CTC will be held in Palmerston North, with Massey Palmerston North hosting it again in 2007. The aim of the Tertiary Challenge is maximum participation and to involve all the tertiary institutions in the Central Region (Taupo South – Wellington). It is envisaged that this will be an annual event to close off the year on a high note.

Location:

The Central Tertiary Challenge 2007 will be held on the Massey Palmerston North campus with support from the Massey University Students’ Association in conjunction with Student City, Sport Manawatu and USNZ. All the events will take place on the Massey Campus (Palmerston North).

Date:

Friday 14 September (entries close on Monday 10 September to USNZ)

Invited Institutes:

All tertiary institutions in the Central Region of New Zealand (Taupo South – Wellington) are invited to participate.

Sports Offered:

All sports will be based on an ‘open competition.’ Open competition means any variations of males and females to play at any one time. E.g. there can be a basketball team made up of 3 men, 3 women or a mixture. The make up of the team is totally up to the team. There are no restrictions.

- Basketball (3 aside) – team sport - min 3 competitors
- Indoor Rowing – individual sport – 1 competitor
1. 500 metres or 1,500 metres
2. Separate divisions of Light weight (below 75kgs) and
Heavyweight (above 75kgs)
- Netball – team sport – min 7 competitors
- Soccer (6 aside) – team sport – min 6 competitors
- Touch – team sport – min 6 competitors
- Ultimate – team sport – min 5 competitors (tbc)
- Volleyball – team sport – min 6 competitors

Please note:
- Team sports are held simultaneously, hence competitors can only play one team sport
- Rowing will be held for a 3-hour window (an hour before, during & after lunch). We would recommend getting as many of your competitors to row as possible.

There is NO limit to how many teams can enter from each institution in any sport!

Team Manager:

The Team Manager will be in charge of organising the team’s logistics (transportation, uniforms, accommodation etc) as well as being the main contact person for your overall delegation. It would be highly recommended that this person also attends the CTC and is the person who forwards us registration information and entry fees.

Entry Fee:

Participants from all Universities in membership of USNZ - $15/person (inc GST)
Participants from all other Tertiary Institutes - $20/person (inc GST)
Officials not competing will not be charged an entry fee

The entry fee will include the following:
- Sport
- Lunch
- Closing function and snacks

Institutions will be invoiced before the CTC.

Registration Information:

- Once team managers are confirmed by each institution, they will receive a summary sheet.
- Summary sheets are due via e-mail (admin@universitysport.org.nz) on Monday 10 September 2007, 5pm and registration forms are due by Tuesday 11 September 2007, 5pm.
- All names of competitors entered in the registration forms that is posted to us by Tuesday 11 September 2007 will be charged the registration fee. There will be NO refunds after this date.
- A USNZ Code of Behaviour is attached to this letter. All competitors and officials will need to adhere to this. We will accept as true that all competitors and officials entered on the registration forms have read the Code of Behaviour.

Eligibility Criteria:

All students and faculty members of the Tertiary institutions will be eligible to participate at the Central Tertiary Challenge 2007.
