Staff at the Snow Games

We’re pleased to have Blair Smith and Jerrie Andrews on board the team to bring you the Uni Snow Games.

Blair will be the Snow Manager, so he’ll be your main contact during the Games. Blair has attended a number of uni snow games while at Canterbury uni and was an active member of CUBA and the Snowsports club, and has also been a volunteer up at Temple Basin ski club. He was regional coordinator with CCUSA as while at Canterbury uni. He co-founded and organised the IEP Auckland FreeSki Festival this year here in Auckland,

Jerrie will be the Media Manager, so contact her if you have any interesting stories you’d like to get out to the media, or have a media outlet you’d specifically like information sent to. She is a former sports journalist now working in communications and PR. She covered snow-oriented events such as the Burton Open and the New Zealand Winter Games for various newspapers - now she’s looking forward to being on the other side of it and promoting the brilliant university talent on the slopes this year.

USNZ Staff at the Games will be Alayna Carter (Executive Director), Peter McDonald (National Events & Projects Manager) and our AustraLearn Intern from Wisconsin, Matt Steingraber.

Accreditation

Accreditation will be held at the Treble Cone Wanaka Office (19 Dungarvon Street) on Saturday 27th August from 6pm-9pm. To assist with the flow of accreditation we ask that Team Managers advise us of the approximate time their athletes will be accrediting.

Social Programme & Official Ceremonies

BASE Backpackers have again come on board as a sponsor, and will be hosting the Official Opening & Closing Ceremonies and the post-ceremony ‘parties’. They also have accommodation available, so check them out for some awesome deals

The rest of the Social programme is well under way to being organised, so we’ll send more information as it’s confirmed

Lift Passes

Thanks to treble Cone and Cardrona we’ve been able to offer an amazing deal on Lift Passes for the week. $50 for a one-day pass or $200 for a 5-day pass (Normal lift passes go for $72)

Lift passes are available for both mountains during the week, so even if you’re only competing in one or two events, you can still take advantage of the discounted passes and enjoy the slopes on your ‘day off’

Sponsors

A few Sponsorships are in the process of being finalised but for now we are pleased to announce that Skull Candy are back on Board and will be sponsoring the ‘Big Air’ event.

Racers Edge is a new 2011 partner. They have obtained rights to the 'Slope Style' event.

As mentioned above BASE Backpackers are also back on board and will be sponsoring the 'Half Pipe' event.

Registrations

Avoid the late fees and make sure you and your athletes are registered by Friday 12th August.

Late registrations will be allowed from Friday 12th to Friday 19th August (but will incur late fees)

Volunteers

We’re looking for 5-6 volunteers to assist at the events during the Games. If you’re interested check out the volunteer package on the website, which includes (amongst other things)....

  • Accommodation (if required)
  • Clothing
  • Lift passes

We’re looking forward to seeing you all in Wanaka

More updates to follow as we finalise more of the details
