Swimming Star Wins International Scholarship

University Sport New Zealand would like to congratulate Lauren Boyle on her selection as the first FISU-Oceania student athlete to be awarded one of three global scholarships from the International University Sports Foundation (FISU).

Three scholarships are awarded after each World University Games as a legacy of the 2003 Universiade, based on both sporting and academic performance.

Project Manager for Uni Games Appointed

University Sport New Zealand is excited to announce the appointment of Jill Ford, of Fordward Thinking, as Project Manager for the 2012 University Games in Wellington.

Jill has vast experience in the event management industry, running events such as the New Zealand Business Games, the Wild Wellington Mountain Bike Relay, and the Teddy Bears Picnic. Jill will be a key asset in running a successful University Games.

University Sport New Zealand is proud to announce that 2012 Uni Games will be hosted in Wellington City!

Wellington City provides first class facilities for the Games, with the recent opening of the new ASB Sports Centre, and the Wellington City Council’s initiative of several all-weather artificial turfs around the city.

Otago University retain Uni Snow Games shield


Sunday September 4: Otago University has successfully defended its hold on the Uni Snow Games Michael Forrestal Memorial Shield, winning it for the eighth consecutive year.

This year’s Uni Snow Games saw more than 90 competitors take part in events including Big Air, Half Pipe, Gravity Cross, Giant Slalom and Cross Country, at Treble Cone, Cardrona and Snow Farm.

Good result for Waikato University at Uni Snow Games


Friday September 2: Natalie Good has certainly lived up to her surname in this week’s Uni Snow Games.

The talented snowboarder has taken two freestyle titles this week, winning the Slopestyle on Thursday and today’s (Friday September 2) Skull Candy-sponsored Big Air at Treble Cone, comfortably.

With experience like hers it is little wonder the Waikato University law student has dominated the two events she has entered at this year’s Uni Snow Games.
