2008 World Uni Champs - NZ represents

New Zealand University athletes are likely to compete in nine World University Championships events in 2008.  They include the following:

  • Triathlon in Erdek, Turkey

  • Match Race Sailing in Gdansk, Poland

  • Beach Volleyball in Hamburg, Germany

  • Karate in Wroclaw, Poland

  • Taekwondo in Belgrade, Serbia

  • Orienteering in Tartu, Estonia

  • Golf in Sun City, South Africa

  • Rowing in Belgrade, Serbia

  • White Water Slalom in Bratislava, Slovakia

  • Water skiing in Tianjin, China.

In April Ruth Croft (Canterbury University) finished 40th/62 in the World University Cross Country championships held in Mauquenchy, France.  As teams are named and as all results are available they will feature on our website.

University Sport NZ is the sanctioning organisation that endorses the selection of athletes to attend World University Championships. Working with respective National Sporting Organisations, USNZ ensures athletes are at an appropriate level to be representing New Zealand Universities on the international stage.
