9 Izmir swimmers in Comm Games selection

9 of the 18 swimmers selected to represent New Zealand at March’s Commonwealth Games in Melbourne were part of the successful swim team at August’s World University Games in Izmir, Turkey. Swimming NZ’s announcement, made Sunday 11 December 2005, included Moss Burmester, Liz Coster, Alison Fitch, Helen Norfolk, Cameron Gibson, Melissa Ingram, Andrew McMillan, Glenn Snyders and Georgina Toomey. Norfolk won 3 medals in Izmir, the highest ever by a kiwi at a single WUGs, and Fitch, Ingram and Toomey also medalled.
