AUT first name on ‘The Trophy’

Auckland University of Technology was named Overall Champion University for 2005 at last night’s NZ Universities Blues Awards Ceremony at Te Papa, Wellington.
AUT were presented with ‘The Trophy’, a new University Sport New Zealand award for the best performing University in inter-Varsity sporting competition during the previous calendar year. The Trophy complements the historic Shield awarded to the winners of the annual NZ University Games.
Among a range events, AUT won the 2005 University Games on the North Shore and placed 4th at both the Men’s Cricket Championship in Wellington and the Winter Games in Wanaka (latter now known as the Uni Snow Games).
The Overall Champion University rankings for 2005 are:
1st AUT 252 points
2nd Auckland 203.5
3rd Victoria 143
4th Otago 127
5th Waikato 114.33
6th Massey Albany 77.33
7th Canterbury 76.33
8th Massey Palmerston North 55
9th Lincoln 42.5
