Louise Corcoran, a former Otago student who competed for NZ at the 2005 World University Winter Games, has placed 12th in the Skeleton competition at the Winter Olympics in Torino. Corcoran, currently ranked 23rd in the world, finished 8th in January 2005 in the Skeleton competition at the World University Winter Games in Innsbruck, Austria - the event included for the first time as a demonstration sport. The winner of the Innsbruck gold medal, Shelley Rudman of Great Britain, won the silver medal in Torino.
