Lincoln win Cricket after tense Final

Lincoln University won the 2006 NZU Men’s Cricket Championship today in Christchurch after a hard fought 2 wicket victory over defending champs Victoria. Batting first in the final, Victoria only managed 164, Hamish Templeton top scoring with 39. Kieran Preston was Lincoln’s main destroyer taking 4-16. In reply, Lincoln reached their target for the loss of 8 wickets despite James Hill’s 3-38 - Andrew Fullerton-Smith top scored with 31. In the other placing matches, AUT won an amazingly low scoring match scoring 38-5 to beat Canterbury’s 36 and finish 3rd. Massey Palmerston North beat Massey Albany by 64 runs to clinch 5th place.
