2 Massey PN students have won medals at recent canoe events in Europe.
The 2 kayakers who will represent New Zealand at September’s 5th World University Canoe Wild Water Championships have recently excelled in competition in Europe. Tania Perrett and Michael Dawson, both Massey Palmerston North students, were recent recipients of NZU Blues awards recognising their sporting and academic performances in 2005. Perrett was awarded a double Blue for her performances in Canoe Polo and Kayaking.
Perrett was part of the New Zealand women’s team which won the silver medal at the recent World Canoe Polo Championships in Germany, losing narrowly to the host nation in the final.
Dawson has won the bronze medal in the team event and placed 10th in the individual CZ Wave 2006 ICF competition in the Czech Republic, an event with over 300 competitors.
Next month’s World University Canoe Wild Water Championships (7-10 September) will be held in Krakow, Poland. For more information click on World Uni Canoe Champs
