University Sport New Zealand (USNZ) is pleased to announce that the 2009 New Zealand University Games
event has been announced as a finalist in the 2009 New Zealand Sport and Recreation Awards.
The event which was held in Taranaki has been named in the Project Collaboration Section. 2009 was just the second time the Games event had been held outside of a University town and the first time it had ever been to the Taranaki region.
The Project Collaboration Section Award is designed to recognise organisations which have partnered in a successful sport and recreation collaboration.
The Games and the 2009 Consortium consisting of Sport Taranaki, Western Institute Of Technology, Venture Taranaki, New Plymouth District Council, Stratford District Council and South Taranaki District Council will vie for this coveted award against three other finalists; Community Swim (The John Walker Find Your Field of Dreams Foundation and Manukau Leisure Services Ltd) Nairnville Artificial Turf (Wellington City Council, New Zealand Community Trust, Capital Football and Wellington Rugby Football Union) and Push Play Neighbourhoods (Harbour Sport, Rodney District Council, Harbour Health PHO, Coast to Coast PHO and Accident Compensation Corporation)
Winners will be announced at the Sport & Recreation Sector Awards on Monday 26th April in Wellington.
