Otago continue to dominate in ski & boarder cross events at Cardrona on day 3.
Otago skiers and boarders had another successful day at the 2006 Uni Snow Games being staged at the Cardrona ski field near Wanaka, winning 3 of the 4 skier and boarder cross events. 245 of the 300 competitors at the Uni Snow Games competed in these events making this the busiest day of the Games.
The day started off with some concern that high winds could disrupt the day’s competition, therefore it was decided that the boarder cross will first be held, followed by the ski cross in the afternoon. The boarder cross was completed successfully with Massey Albany Phil Dominick taking first place in the Men’s and Sera Price from Otago in the Women’s.
The Ski Cross, unfortunately, had to be restricted to one timed run before advancing to the finals due to time restraints. Nonetheless, it did not falter Otago from dominating the event. First place went to Alastair Eason for Men’s, and Elke Braun-Elwert for Women’s.
