New Plymouth siblings Peter (20) and Jane (18) Alleman helped the Wellingtonians dominate the contest.

Victoria won the gold and silver medals in both the men’s and women’s competitions.

Massey Albany scored bronze in the men’s and AUT came third in the women’s event.

Spotswood College graduate Peter Alleman is enjoying being back in New Plymouth after five years touring on the national beach volleyball circuit.

“It’s a great atmosphere and great scenery”

Team-mate and fellow gold-medallist Marco Duthie relished the victory yesterday after coming second in the indoor volleyball earlier in the week.

“Beach volleyball is a good way to improve your skills.”

The 44 competitors (11 teams in each competition) made the most of the good weather during their breaks - making sure to socailise when they could.

“Beach volleyball is a very social sport,” said the sports Uni Grames co-ordinator Anthony Jones.
